A Charleston engagement session is one of my favorite ways to document the season before your wedding day. Between the historic charm of downtown Charleston, the coastal beauty of Folly Beach, and the soft spring light, Charleston offers endless opportunities for timeless and meaningful engagement photos.
G and C’s session was especially meaningful because I first photographed their proposal in spring 2025 at Cypress Gardens. Now, getting to reconnect with them for their engagement photos before their Charleston wedding this fall was such an honor.

Exploring Downtown Charleston
We started their Charleston engagement session wandering through downtown Charleston, exploring the historic streets, colorful homes, and quiet corners that showcase the charm of the city.
One of my favorite things about photographing in Charleston is the variety of scenery available within a short distance. From historic architecture and hidden gardens to beautiful streets lined with oak trees, the city creates a beautiful backdrop while still allowing every couple’s personality to come through.
Sunset Engagement Photos at Folly Beach
After exploring downtown Charleston, we headed to Folly Beach to end the evening with a coastal sunset.
Combining downtown Charleston with Folly Beach gave G and C a perfect mix of locations. Their session included the historic feel of the city along with the laid back atmosphere of the coast.
As the sun started to set, we spent time walking along the beach, laughing together, and capturing those moments that make engagement photos feel personal and authentic.
