A Cuba, New Mexico Couple Session // Anna + Ed
A honeymoon adventure through the landscapes of Northern New Mexico
After getting married earlier this summer in New England, A and E headed west to celebrate their honeymoon. While exploring New Mexico, they decided to document this season of their relationship with an outdoor Cuba, New Mexico couple session.
For me, this is exactly what couple sessions can be about. You do not need to be engaged or celebrating a traditional milestone. Sometimes you simply want to document a new chapter together in a place that feels completely different from home.
From Oxford to New Mexico
A and E first met in Oxford in March 2020, just before the pandemic began. A was studying abroad with Sarah Lawrence College, while E was beginning his Ph.D. When A was sent home early, they stayed in contact until A eventually returned to Oxford in 2021 to study for a master’s degree in English Literature.
They have been together ever since, building a life that has taken them from the UK to the United States.
Their wedding took place in New England, which is home for them, so their honeymoon gave them the opportunity to explore somewhere completely different.
An Outdoor Couple Session in Cuba, New Mexico
Cuba is a beautiful Northern New Mexico location for couples who want their photographs to feel adventurous and connected to the landscape. Rather than treating their session like a traditional photo shoot, we spent time exploring and letting the landscape become part of the story.
That approach is especially fitting for A and E. They love getting outside together, from exploring the wilder parts of New Hampshire to finding new lakes and traveling to places like Monteverde, Costa Rica, where they hiked through the rainforest and spotted everything from sloths to poison dart frogs.
They also love their quieter time at home with their cat, cooking, playing video games, watching favorite shows, and reading.
That combination of adventure and everyday life is what makes their relationship so fun to photograph.
