FLORIDA KEYS ELOPEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER // SOUTH FLORIDA ELOPEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER
So you’ve decided to elope in the lovely Key West, Florida… Congratulations! Obviously getting hitched is the main event. However, why not add a few more activities to make your trip that much more exciting? You’re already going to one of the best elopement destinations, so let’s kick this up a notch. I’m giving you 5 things you can do during your Key West elopement. Ready… set… let’s plan!
(psssst…still not sure which part of Key West you want to tie the knot? Check out this article I wrote on 5 Places Where you can Elope in the Florida Keys).
The Keys are a string of 1,700 islands that span over 120 miles off the southern tip of Florida in the Atlantic Ocean. Key West is famous for its water sports, lively nightlife, beaches, historic sites and its pastel, conch-style architecture. If any of these things interest you, you’ve come to the right place. I’m going to break down the top 5 recommendations I have for you to try during your Key West Elopement!
So many people love to come to Key West to get their surf on; and I don’t blame them! The majority of surf action can be found in South Beach. You can learn more about the right time of the year, information about the swells, and view surf cams here. If you’re not much of a surfer, but find yourself loving the paddle-board life, Key West is perfect for that, too! Glide over seagrass beds and in and out of a protected mangrove ecosystem with an abundance of fish and birds surrounding you over at Lazy Dog Adventures – my top recommendation for paddle-boarding and rentals.
If you can’t get enough of the water and adrenaline is your thing, you’ll love waterskiing and jet skiing! There are so many great options for waterskiing. For jet skiing tours, Barefoot Billy’s is hands down my top pick! Cruising the island on a 2-hour guided jet ski tour is exactly the way I would want to spend my Key West Elopement. How about you?
The truth is, you can’t go wrong with any of the exciting adventures Key West has to offer. Your trip will be full of so much love, laughter and memories when you choose the Florida Keys as your elopement location. I hope this helped you decide what things are must-dos when you jet off to tie the knot. Happy planning and congratulations!
Key West boat rentals are a huge hit for both tourists and locals. There are so many places that are perfect for an afternoon ride to go snorkeling, lay out on the beach or just do some swimming! Fury has a great article here that talks all about the specific popular sites to explore with your Key West boat rental. There is nothing more romantic on your key west elopement than to catch a sunset boat ride with your hunny!
Hopping on a kayak and/or canoe is one of my personal favorites. You just eloped and are feeling all the love, why not hope into a canoe and float the Florida Keys together? If you’re more of a kayak couple yourself, even better! There are so many options for both kayakers and canoe-lovers to explore to their hearts desire. Check out Key West Eco Tours for a great backcountry Kayak adventure!
The coral reefs are something the Florida Keys are known for. My personal favorite is Molasses Reef. It may be the most visited coral reef in the world, but it’s a must-see in my book! The conditions of Molasses Reef are fairly calm for snorkeling as it sits 6 miles off shore of the Florida Keys. If you’re interested in snorkeling during your Key West elopement, check out Sebago Watersports for some great tours! If Scuba is your more jam, I highly recommend Rainbow Reef Dive Center!
