I had the absolute joy of photographing D and M’s engagement session in gorgeous San Diego, California, and let me tell you—it was a total dream! These two are such dear friends. We first met a few years ago in Florida, and even though life has taken us to different corners of the country—me in New Mexico and them soaking up the sun in Southern California—we’ve stayed close. That made this session feel even more special! We’d been chatting about doing their engagement photos for a while, and this end-of-summer trip was the perfect chance to make it happen.

We kicked things off on the first evening at their home, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. They greeted me with the biggest smiles and introduced me to their adorable dog, M, who completely stole the show (and my heart). The vibe was so laid-back and cozy as we made homemade pizzas, caught up on life, and watched the California sunset paint the sky in dreamy shades of orange and pink. The swaying palm trees and golden light added magic to the already beautiful evening. There’s something intimate about capturing love in your home, especially when it’s shared with your fur baby!

Day two was all about adventure! We started at the iconic Balboa Park, and wow—what a stunning spot for engagement photos. The architecture, vibrant gardens, and lively energy made it such a fun place to explore with these two. D and M were naturals, strolling hand-in-hand and sharing so many sweet moments. As the day wrapped up, we made our way to Sunset Cliffs just in time for golden hour. Watching the sun sink below the horizon while waves crashed against the cliffs was pure magic—a picture-perfect way to end this two-day adventure.
